GraderJoe creates an Item Analysis graph for multiple-choice tests. It shows, for each question, the number of students choosing each choice. The correct answer for that question is indicated in the appropriate segment of the bar for that question. There is one item analysis graph for each version of the test.


The graph is ordered from the most difficult question (least number of students answering correctly) to the easiest question (highest number of students answering correctly).


In the example below, Question 6 was the most difficult. The correct answer, A, was chosen by three students. However, of the eight students who did not answer this correctly, six chose B. It is possible that these six students had the same misconception leading them to choose the same wrong answer. The teacher could use this information to address such misconceptions.
